Introduction

April 14, 2008

On this blog you will accompany me as I learn about my families past.  The Jews who spent generations in Arab lands have been forced to leave, scattering across the world. They are vanished communities. Before my father’s generation passes, I want have a clearer impression of the community he and his family lived in.

Up until recently, Libya existed in my mind only as vague idea of sand and camels. This research and its output, are about connection and community, my connection to a community I never knew while it was intact. It is a personal narrative.
